Ktora godzina?

It's almost half nine here. Some people would say nine thirty, others half past nine. I initially didn't like the 'half nine' method when I first encountered it in England, but I grew accustomed to it and now I find it more convenient, and more efficient, than the other options. Fewer syllables.

I've always felt that hald nine should be half before nine, thus being 8.30. Just like half a hot dog is not yet the full hot dog. It seems an inaccurate description to me.

Probably because of your Germanophone background.
I've noticed that if anyone's going to think that half nine means 8:30, it's a German speaker.

I initially used to think that half 8 meant 4. Maths at work.
